Stop with the Fifties. Which means: stop with pollution, stop with the abuse of land, water, air, stop with the fossil fuels (leave it in the ground).
But, do we really want to forget this Eldorado and enter the real world?
If we look at what's happening, the answer is absolutely no.
Politicians, presidents of the most important countries all over the world win and will continue to do so for many years on (if this trend won't change), exactly because they keep promising that we will indefinitely live in the Fifties. That's exactly what the majority of people in the developed, rich, advanced (call them as you like) countries want to hear. Which brings with it that climate change is a temporary accident, that economy will naturally stabilize, that migrants too are a temporary accident, that the never-ending fires throught the world, the melting of Arctic, every problem that may occur is only a temporary diversion from life we deserve, that ... nothing, nothing will prevent us to live in the only age we really like: the Fifties.
People are rallying all over Europe, gathered in spontaneous group, like Extinction rebellion, just to say aloud how irrational - and extremely dangerous for us (human beings, animals, plant life) - is to keep living as usual. And the EU? It's could really be of help if only decided to grow up. 35% of the Recovery Fund will be used to tackle Climate Change. A lot of money, but it will really work only if EU is unite and defiant.
Basta con gli anni Cinquanta. Il che significa: basta con l'inquinamento, basta con l'abuso di terra, acqua, aria, basta con i combustibili fossili (meglio lasciarli dove sono).
Ma vogliamo davvero dimenticare questo Eldorado ed entrare nel mondo reale? Se guardiamo a quello che sta succedendo, la risposta è assolutamente no.
I politici, i presidenti dei più importanti paesi del mondo vincono e continueranno a farlo per molti anni (se questa tendenza non cambierà), proprio perché ci promettono che potremo vivere per sempre negli anni Cinquanta. Questo è esattamente ciò che la maggioranza delle persone nei Paesi sviluppati, ricchi, avanzati (chiamateli come volete) vuole sentirsi dire. Il che porta con sé che il cambiamento climatico è un incidente temporaneo, che l'economia si stabilizzerà naturalmente, che anche i migranti sono un incidente temporaneo, che gli incendi senza fine, lo scioglimento dell'Artco, che ogni problema è solo una deviazione temporanea dalla vita che meritiamo, che ... niente, niente ci impedirà di vivere nell'unica epoca che ci piace realmente: gli anni Cinquanta.
La gente sta manifestando in tutta Europa, riunita in gruppi spontanei, come Extinction Rebellion, solo per dire ad alta voce quanto sia irrazionale - ed estremamente pericoloso per il genere umano, per gli animali, la flora - continuare a vivere come al solito. E l'UE? Potrebbe davvero essere d'aiuto se solo decidesse di crescere. Il 35% del Recovery Fund sarà utilizzato per affrontare il cambiamento climatico. Un sacco di soldi, ma funzionerà davvero solo se l'Unione Europea sarà unita e coraggiosa.
